A family business
PRIVATELY OWNED SINCE THE FIRST OFFICIALLY DOCUMENTED REFERENCE IN 1492
The Stiegl Brewery has been privately owned since the first officially documented reference in 1492.
The success of the brewery is inextricably linked with the name 'Kiener'. The brewery has now been under the family's ownership for 120 years and Dr. Heinrich Dieter Kiener has successfully managed the company for the past 20 years.
During this time Stiegl has developed from its existence as a small regional brewery to become Austria's largest and most successful privately owned brewery. As an 'independent entrepreneur' Dr. Heinrich Dieter Kiener holds a position of great responsibility in which he encourages a healthy, regional economic structure providing over 700 jobs throughout Austria. The top priority of Stiegl is the use of domestic raw materials and the careful handling of natural resources. In everything we do, the respectful treatment of customers, suppliers and employees comes first.
Dr. Heinrich Dieter Kiener, Stiegl owner:
As a private businessman, I enjoy the freedom to do exactly whatever I think is right and important. This means responding to our customers' demands for quality and brewing 'the beer of Austrians' using Austrian raw materials only'.
