Kiesbye’s Waldbier 2016: Wacholder
It started back in 2011 during the International Year of the Forest, and it is now entering the sixth round. The new ingredients for the year 2016 are hand-picked juniper twigs and berries. This is the first time that ingredients from the “middle storey” of the forest, namely the level of bushes and shrubberies, come into play; they are harvested in Lungau after the first few frosty nights. The popular conifer has always been the topic of myths and fairy tales and is said to have magical powers.
Golden in colour and lightly delicate, this brew makes an immediate impression with aromas of forest honey accompanied by the delicately herb notes of the juniper seed. Its mineral-resinous taste harmonises perfectly with a characteristically dry finish.
