Stiegl's 2014 Edition Beer: "Ferdinand"
Impressions of rum aromas accompany this copper-coloured gem of a beer from the first sip to the follow-through. A thick texture with a subtle foam, packed with toffee, coconut, vanilla and caramel. The beer creates an exhilarating taste sensation marked by inebriating honey tones.
This is the fourth year that the Stiegl micro-brewery has brewed a special annual edition, which, like in past years, we believe to be the crowning glory of our brewing skills. Our master brewers decided on a top-fermented Imperial Alt with an original wort of 21° Plato, which has been brewed back in the early months of summer. After a six week cellaring and maturing period, the micro-brewers carefully transferred the precious brew into Caribbean rum barrels from Martinique, which had previously been used to store cognac. Our master brewers' liquid paradise then rested for four months in the Stiegl brewery's maturing cellar so that it could develop its magnificent flavour.
